Budget cuts lead to University of Southern Maine censure - Fred Placey, WMTW

A national association representing teachers at the University of Southern Maine has voted to censure the university saying the school didn't properly consult with faculty in making recent budget cuts. At its national meeting Saturday, the American Association of University Professors voted to place USM on its list of censured institutions. The AAUP advocates on behalf of university faculty and says USM didn't properly consult with school faculty on budgets cuts last year. Those budget cuts led USM to cut 51 faculty positions and eliminate five academic programs to fill a $16 million budget gap. http://www.wmtw.com/news/budget-cuts-lead-to-university-of-southern-maine-censure/33571706
