Kansas Universities Prepare for Furloughs as Budget Battle Continues -Mike Iuen, KAKE

Time is running out on state lawmakers... trying to pass a budget that fills a $406 million shortfall. Failure to do so, could have an impact on state universities. If a budget isn't passed by June 7th, state employees could be furloughed. Since university workers are state employees, state colleges are affected. Wichita State University President John Bardo issued a statement Wednesday morning saying he's cautiously optimistic the legislature will resolve the issue this week and the university will reopen Monday June 8th as usual. http://www.kake.com/home/headlines/WSU-prepares-for-furloughs-if-legislature-fails-to-pass-a-budget-306055791.html
