Kentucky State University Budget Balanced, But More Cuts Looming - Brent Schanding, State-Journal

As many as 31 positions — including 17 faculty and 14-15 staff jobs — will be eliminated at Kentucky State University under next year’s operating budget. The $45.8 million 2015-16 budget for Kentucky State University may be balanced, but it also includes a 10 percent reduction to student scholarships and no raises for remaining employees. It calls for a 5 percent tuition increase for students, which officials say will generate more revenue for the struggling school. “Putting this together was not easy,” President Raymond Burse said. “Is it where I’d like to be? No, it is not where I’d like to be.” But Burse told the school’s governing Board of Regents Friday that they must “stretch what they have to move the institution forward.” http://www.state-journal.com/latest%20headlines/2015/05/29/kentucky-state-university-budget-balanced-but-more-cuts-looming
