EIU chief says budget in limbo - KARSTEN BURGSTAHLER Lee News Service

Layoffs won't be contained to one department, he said; while academics will see a large expense cut because much of the funding goes to it, the academic side cuts will be smaller proportionally to nonacademic cuts in areas such as student affairs and athletics. Glassman said he has also met with athletics director Tom Michael to make sure the department does not run over its budget this year. No particular sports have been identified for cuts, Glassman said. According to Glassman, there hasn't been much negative feedback regarding the cuts. He hopes to inform those who will be laid off by August; however, he will honor three-month, six-month and one-year notification requirements set by the unions, he said. http://herald-review.com/news/local/education/eiu-chief-says-budget-in-limbo/article_7caaaef2-e0f1-567f-8cce-d8cd26b0e07e.html
