Colleges footing the bill until lawmakers pass state budget - WGAL

Financial uncertainty is meeting the start of the fall semester at Millersville University. Students are among more than 100,000 statewide who have not received state grant money because of the budget impasse. A total of $420 million dollars is held up from the "Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency,” or PHEAA. According to the PHEAA, they cannot provide a final award amount or disperse any funds to schools until the budget is passed. Millersville has credited students for state money they would have received, but it cannot cover textbooks and rent. Millersville University also has had to provide some emergency loans. http://www.wgal.com/news/colleges-footing-the-bill-until-lawmakers-pass-state-budget/34953260
