Budget pressures growing for UIS, other schools - Chris Dettro, SJ-R

Some vacant positions at the University of Illinois Springfield aren’t being filled, and officials are taking a hard look at any and every expenditure as the state budget impasse enters its fourth month. “All public campuses are really feeling a tremendous amount of pressure,” UIS Chancellor Susan Koch said Monday. The presidents of the state’s seven public universities last week sent a letter to Gov. Bruce Rauner and the four legislative leaders saying the budget impasse creates uncertainty on their campuses that can’t continue.
