College students heading to food pantry amid budget impasse - Jan Murphy, Penn Live

Three Kutztown University students walked through the doors of Friend Inc. Community Services' food pantry in September. That number grew to 21 in October. Cathy Dill, who runs the food pantry for the social service agency in Kutztown that serves about 300 low-income families a month, said having that many college students as clients is unusual. But then, Dill recognizes that due to the state budget impasse, this is an unusual year. College students who don't buy meal plans at the university sometimes depend on their state grant issued by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency to help buy groceries and cover other living expenses. http://www.pennlive.com/politics/index.ssf/2015/10/college_students_heading_to_fo.html
