Illinois budget impasse affects student grants - Nikki Niggemeyer, Daily Vidette

The Illinois state budget impasse continues to have a domino effect on its citizens and now is affecting college student grants here in Bloomington-Normal. Illinois lawmakers have refused to settle on a budget for the upcoming fiscal year, a decision that should have been made back in July. College students around the Bloomington-Normal area will soon see the side effects. Need-based grant money for the spring semester may not be able to be disbursed in time for the spring semester. According to an article in the Pantagraph, colleges typically credit grant money before the money from the government is received. This has been done for years, due to the fact colleges have always been reimbursed late but have received the money by this point in the semester. http://www.videtteonline.com/index.php/2015/10/13/budget-impasse-affects-student-grants/
