No Illinois budget means shifting resources at SIUE campus - Associated Press

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville will shift about 9 percent of its spending and offer early retirement incentives as it deals with the lack of a state budget, interim chancellor Stephen Hansen says. Hansen gave the annual “State of the University” speech Tuesday, saying the campus would begin looking for alternative funding to state support. “Our financial challenges are so dire that they threaten the core of the university and our ability to perform our mission,” Hansen said.
