Grim outlook: Rockford's Rock Valley College considers $7M in cuts; tuition hikes, layoffs expected - CORINA CURRY, RR Star

Jobs will be lost, non-essential programs cut and Rock Valley College students likely will face higher tuition as college leaders adjust spending to reflect a loss of $7 million from the state for this year and next. The college is losing revenue because of a state budget impasse. Details of a cost-savings plan are expected next week. President Mike Mastroianni gave trustees on the Finance Committee a preview of the plan this afternoon. Mastroianni will ask the board to consider raising student tuition and fees — he doesn't know how much — and tapping the college's reserve funds — again, not sure by how much. http://www.rrstar.com/article/20151109/NEWS/151109535
