Marshall University readies for $2.5 million budget cut - Samuel Speciale, Charleston Gazette-Mail

Marshall University will slash $2.5 million from its budget to meet a 4 percent across-the-board cut ordered earlier this month by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, interim President Gary White said Wednesday. The cut, which is required of most state agencies and also will affect West Virgina’s other public universities, will strip nearly $2 million from Marshall’s main operating budget and another $600,000 from its school of medicine. White said the cuts were anticipated and that deans and other college officials are looking at ways to absorb the loss. “They’re taking these cuts seriously and working on ways to make it work,” White told Board of Governors members Wednesday during their monthly meeting. http://www.wvgazettemail.com/article/20151028/GZ01/151029488/1101
