Paine College president says late wages paid, more budget issues possible - Sean Gruber, Augusta Chronicle

Paine College’s interim president said the school has a “balanced budget” and has paid employees who did not get a paycheck last week, but he warned of additional cuts or shortfalls in the future at a news conference Friday. Paine was unable to pay some employees last Friday because of budget shortfalls caused by smaller enrollment and struggles with the school’s ongoing probation. President Samuel Sullivan said the school’s enrollment has dropped from roughly 550 students to 300 since January, partly because of the loss of its football program and nonpayment of tuition. Sullivan said that the school has now paid all of its employees, both salaried and biweekly, and that much of the funds were raised by community members and sponsors. http://chronicle.augusta.com/news/education/2015-11-06/paine-budget-balanced-troubles-remain
