Up to $20 million in cuts ordered at UI - Julie Wurth, News-Gazette

Anticipating what could be the worst state funding cuts in decades, the University of Illinois' flagship campus has ordered budget cuts of up to $20 million. Most colleges and academic units at the UI's Urbana campus have been asked to cut spending by 4 to 5 percent, and central administration and service units are slashing expenses by 4 to 6.8 percent, officials told The News-Gazette. A third of the way into the fiscal year with no state budget in sight, "we were beginning to get very concerned about how we're going to manage any major cut should it occur," Provost Edward Feser said Friday. "You only have the capacity to adjust spending so quickly. We've given them reductions based on a scenario of what we think might be a potential cut to our funding." http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2015-11-07/20-million-cuts-ordered-ui.html
