Black Hawk College announces faculty and staff layoffs - Kiya Edwards, KWQC

Black Hawk College has announced its first step in a plan to address a budget shortfall. The college’s president, Dr. Bettie Truitt, says making reductions in phases is the best option for students and employees, and the first phase, eliminating 15 full-time positions, should help address the budget shortfall. Truitt says declining enrollment is a problem and when you combine it with a reduction in Monetary Award Program grants, you get a budget gap. “It means that we’re short of approximately $1.5 million, not even looking at what the state currently owes us,” Truitt said. The college was projected to receive $7.2 million. http://kwqc.com/2015/12/10/black-hawk-college-announces-faculty-and-staff-layoffs/
