Budget cuts could hurt University of Wyoming academic programs - Wyoming Tribune Eagle
University of Wyoming President Dick McGinity said proposed state budget cuts could affect academic programs at the university. McGinity testified Thursday before the Joint Appropriations Committee as the panel continued its 2017-18 budget hearings. He said the university has largely been able to shield UW's "academic enterprise" from previous budget reductions. But Gov. Matt Mead's recommendation to cut $5 million from the university's base budget could change that, he said. The governor's two-year budget also rejects UW's request for staff and faculty pay increases, which is the top exception request for the university.
