Budget necessary to preserve state's universities - Operating Staff Council Illinois State University

Members of the Operating Staff Council at Northern Illinois University, representing 1,521 civil service employees, recently wrote to Gov. Bruce Rauner to express our concerns about the state budget impasse, proposed cuts to higher education budgets, and the current lack of funding for Monetary Assistance Program grants. College students are the next generation of engineers, accountants, politicians, scientists, artists, and entrepreneurs. They are crucial to forward movement in the state and nation. We must continue to offer better opportunities for future generations. The lack of MAP funding, and the economic stress universities are under, is seriously impacting students’ ability to afford an education and receive quality instruction. http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2015/11/19/letter-budget-necessary-to-preserve-states-universities/a3fkqqj/
