Richland Community College makes cuts and layoffs - Matt Porter, WCIA

The state budget problem forces Richland Community College to hand out pink slips to some of its staff as it deals with shortfalls. The community college is one of many making cuts because of the lack of state funding. Colleges and universities in Illinois haven't received a penny for the new year because of the ongoing budget stalemate. The college cut 11 staff members after shutting down two programs entirely for the spring semester. It also announced it won't be paying for any of the grants from the Monetary Award Program (MAP) given to low-income students beginning next year. http://www.illinoishomepage.net/news/capitol-news/with-no-state-budget-richland-community-college-makes-cuts-and-layoffs
