Illinois students facing uncertainty in paying for college - Shelby Shepherd, KWQC

Spring semester is underway for many colleges, but for some Illinois students the lack of state budget has changed their college course. “The students were notified early on that they were eligible for the funds, but it has ended up coming out of the students pockets,” said Carl Sandburg director of financial aid Lisa Hanson. It is not the spring semester some Carl Sandburg student, in Galesburg, Ill. had planned for. “”We’ve seen a reduction in our enrollment for our spring semester,” Hanson said. Nearly 700 students at the school rely on the Monetary Award Program grant to help pay for tuition. It is money they were promised, but now are not seeing. http://kwqc.com/2016/01/15/illinois-students-facing-uncertainty-in-paying-for-college/
