In an effort to cut $1.2 million from the budget, the Washburn Board of Regents has unanimously voted to implement a voluntary retirement program. The Washburn University Board of Regents met Tuesday afternoon to discuss the program. The Board says that the university creates its budget based on enrollment and revenue figures from the year before. Since Washburn is anticipating an enrollment increase in fiscal year 2017, the university is looking for budget reductions to create a balanced budget. http://www.wibw.com/home/headlines/WU-board-approves-voluntarily-retirement-program-to-cut-12-million-from-the-buget-365828541.html
