Funding issues for Pennsylvania state-owned universities - Wilford Shamlin III, Philadelphia Tribune

The ongoing state budget stalemate is starting to have an effect on state-funded universities, including Lincoln and Cheyney universities, two historically Black schools. Lincoln University’s acting President Richard Green said the university “cannot operate at the same level without this vital state funding.” Green said $14 million in state aid for Lincoln amounts to 25 percent of its operating budget. Without it possible options include tuition hike or generating savings through layoffs and eliminating programs and services, he said. http://www.phillytrib.com/news/funding-issues-for-state-owned-universities/article_cf9fc110-237e-55cc-9285-4cc6b8d5008e.html
