University of Illinois President Pleads for a State Budget - Associated Press

University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen has again appealed to state lawmakers to pass a budget. Killeen told the state Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday that the lack of funding is causing harm. Killeen said the university's flagship campus in Urbana-Champaign has this year had a 76 percent increase in resignations and retirements over the previous two years. Killeen said more than 360 central administration jobs have been cut this fiscal year through a hiring freeze. The state's public colleges and universities have not gotten any state funding since last summer because of the budget standoff between Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and the Democrats who control the General Assembly. http://www.wjbdradio.com/LocalNews/University-of-Illinois-President-Pleads-for-a-State-Budget#.VvSRG9IrLow
