Internal needs amplify reductions - THADDEUS MAST, Laramie Boomerang

The Legislature’s across-the-board budget reductions are only worsened by internal needs at the University of Wyoming, forcing reductions of millions of dollars. UW’s current goal is to reduce the fiscal year 2017 budget by $7 million to account for various budget needs. While the state block grant cut was nearly $3 million per year, the university has several other internal requirements that need funding — chiefly, a new fiscal system to better track money transfers. “We’re expecting to spend $22 million in the upcoming biennium,” said Chris Boswell, vice president for governmental and community affairs. “The Legislature gave us $5 million. We need to find that remaining $17 million in the next two years.” http://www.laramieboomerang.com/news/local_news/internal-needs-amplify-reductions/article_47a3cd8e-f16c-11e5-9045-8f3f63e4e5ff.html
