Algoma U cuts 9 jobs - Brian Kelly, Sault Star

Algoma University is cutting nine employees to help trim costs as it prepares for a drop in enrolment this fall. In late April, the post-secondary institution announced the job losses would take several weeks to be done. The affected workers were let go in late May, said president Craig Chamberlin. “It went as well as it could have gone,” he told The Sault Star. “It's a very difficult time. It's something that organizations never want to go through, but it was managed very, very well by our human resources staff.” Eight support, and one administration position, were eliminated. Three of the affected workers took buyouts “instead of bumping into another position,” said Chamberlin. http://www.saultstar.com/2016/06/12/algoma-u-cuts-9-jobs
