LCCC trims budget, travel expenses - Kelsey Landi, the Telegraph

Lewis and Clark Community College is set to reduce its budget for the upcoming fiscal year in part by cutting travel expenses, which have cost the college thousands of dollars in the past year. The school’s $31.5 million proposed budget for fiscal year 2016-17 represents an 8.5 percent reduction from last year. College President Dale Chapman said the reduction is a direct result of the state’s budget impasse, which has left public higher education institutions in the lurch. Travel allowances would be reduced by 16 percent across the board, from $252,000 to $211,000, and costs for materials like office supplies would see a 14 percent reduction under the tentative budget. Institutional support staff — including central executive staff — would see a 21 percent decrease in the amount they can spend on travel, conferences and meetings in the next fiscal year. https://thetelegraph.com/news/84513/lccc-trims-budget-travel-expenses
