Regents approve UW System budget increasing student fees, spending from reserves - NICO SAVIDGE, Wisconsin State Journal

The University of Wisconsin System will increase student fees and continue tapping controversial reserve funds under a $6.2 billion operating budget that UW’s governing Board of Regents approved Thursday afternoon. The 2016-17 operating budget calls for the System to spend $160 million in the coming fiscal year from its reserve funds, which officials say have been draining since they caused a political firestorm when lawmakers discovered them in 2012. Individual UW campuses will also use reserve funds to shore up their budgets. UW-Madison, for example, will spend $15.1 million from its reserve, for a total operating budget of $2.8 billion. http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/education/university/uw-system-budget-calls-for-student-fee-increases-further-spending/article_536ae580-747c-5747-9761-767cc40dadc6.html
