‘Rogers State U will survive’ state budget cuts - Diana Dickinson, Claremore Progress

Rogers State University officials last week announced plans to address deep state budget cuts. Colleges and universities throughout the state absorbed some of the deepest cuts in the recently passed state budget, which takes effect July 1. Between its three locations — Claremore, Pryor and Bartlesville — RSU will be hit with a reduction in state funding support of more than $2.4 million for fiscal year 2017, compared with its initial allocation to begin the previous fiscal year. RSU President Dr. Larry Rice said on Thursday, “The cuts exceed what we really thought would happen from the reduction of state support. We are now wrestling with that from a budget standpoint of how we will make all of that work.” RSU formed a campus-wide budget advisory committee last year, which spent months evaluating responses to fiscal year 2016 budget cuts, and planning for upcoming reductions. http://www.claremoreprogress.com/news/rice-rsu-will-survive-state-budget-cuts/article_44b1aa4e-2a5e-11e6-bf82-abb5b931fc16.html
