Black Hawk approves balanced budget - Lisa Hammer, Quad Cities Online

Black Hawk College trustees on Thursday approved a balanced fiscal year 2017 budget reflecting $34.1 million in operating fund revenues and expenditures. The college won’t have to dip into reserves assuming it receives $5.4 million from the state of Illinois, which is 75 percent of the total that came from the state in fiscal year 2015. The operating fund consists of education as well as operations and maintenance funds. Seventy-six percent of expenditures are personnel-related. Trustee Dorothy Beck said it was “pretty scary” to be approving a budget without state support. “I don’t know what it means when we say we approve this budget,” she said. http://www.qconline.com/news/local/black-hawk-approves-balanced-budget/article_147ba7f8-a0c6-50b1-a17b-6f4918840c69.html
