Lawmakers, college officials spar over tuition control - Jarrett Carter, Education Dive

College costs in Texas have increased by more than 300% since 1990, a jump a Dallas Morning News’ investigation attributes to legislative control of tuition costs. Smaller campuses with more flexible admission objectives saw the greatest jumps in tuition, with Prairie View A&M University and the University of Texas at Dallas both going over 500 percent in increases over the last 25 years.
