Stopgap budget again leaves out MAP grants - RHONDA GILLESPIE, Daily Chronicle

Some students and colleges still will have to find alternatives to pay college tuition, as Illinois’ stopgap budget takes care of outstanding balances from last school year but doesn’t address the upcoming one. State lawmakers reached an agreement June 30 on an interim budget to last until January, which Gov. Bruce Rauner signed the same day. The spending plan was meant to get state bills paid through the end of the year. But when it comes to the Monetary Award Program, the bills to be paid are from the July 1, 2015, to June 30. MAP grants are designed to help college students from low-income households afford tuition and fees. http://www.daily-chronicle.com/2016/07/06/stopgap-budget-again-leaves-out-map-grants/ay3znio/
