U Woming panel looking at budget cuts considers faculty attrition - Associated Press

Attrition of faculty numbers is one of the strategies being considered by a committee studying ways to cut the University of Wyoming’s budget, a committee member said. Reducing faculty is necessary because the university has already identified big reductions in non-faculty staff positions in order to save money, said Bob Sprague, who is an associate professor of management and marketing. “For every faculty member who stays, that could cost four staff positions, and, obviously, we cannot do that, and we’re definitely not going to do this on the backs of staff,” Sprague said. “They’ve already taken major hits. It will have to entail faculty.” http://trib.com/news/state-and-regional/uw-panel-looking-at-budget-cuts-considers-faculty-attrition/article_d5fe277a-ef7b-56b2-ab94-267f71d67efe.html
