University of Illinois staff told no raise in sight - Anthony Antoine, Illinois Home Page

Once again, the state's unresolved budget issues are affecting colleges and universities. For the second year, faculty and staff at UI will not get a pay raise. Kara Downs is a teacher at Centennial High School and a UI graduate student. When she found out faculty and staff wouldn't be getting a raise for their hard work, she immediately thought about her graduating seniors. "There's quite a few that are entering UI because the quality of faculty here. And my fear would be that, if instructors or professors aren't treated well here, they'll go to other schools and then all students will suffer." When that happens, students make different choices. "I've been teaching for 17 years and I do see more students looking at other options outside of the state." http://www.illinoishomepage.net/news/local-news/ui-facultystaff-told-no-raise-in-sight
