Name change? Tuition drop? Every idea will be considered as ECSU battles steep enrollment decline - Jeff Hampton, The Virginian-Pilot

A team of college officials will try in another effort to stop the steep enrollment decline at Elizabeth City State University. The college announced a student count of 1,350 for the fall, short of the 1,500 goal and less than half the number attending since a peak six years ago. This year’s numbers are nearly 200 less than last year. The school has cut its budget by roughly $5 million and reduced staff by more than 80 people in the last three years. “This will be a really hard look at where we are,” said Chancellor Thomas Conway. “There is no magic bullet.” http://pilotonline.com/news/local/education/team-to-take-another-crack-at-stopping-elizabeth-city-state/article_4e2c1652-e356-5777-8237-5ae314f0d367.html
