Buffalo State College announced that they will not be hiring anyone new during the next fiscal year. The reason for the hiring freeze was detailed to school staff members in a note from the school’s President, Katherine Conway-Turner. The school currently faces a structural deficit of $3.3 million, but that, along with $1.4 million in previously unfunded salary payments, brings their all-funds budget deficit to a projected $4.7 million for the fiscal year. The root of the deficit is lower enrollment numbers.
