JALC's English department feels sting of layoffs: President says 'no reduction in quality,' could rehire more faculty - NEFETERIA BREWSTER, THE SOUTHERN

Whether it's because of recent layoffs or because of a lack of full-time replacements for retirees, the English Department at John A. Logan College has been reduced. JALC President Ron House confirmed the reduction as a result of the March 2 layoffs, but assured the quality of each English course offered at community college. "(Students) are being taught by competent and qualified teachers," he said. "There is no reduction in quality, we maintain the highest quality." House also said that Trustees have already rehired up to 13 faculty and staff from the layoffs, and will consider more. http://thesouthern.com/news/local/education/jalc-s-english-department-feels-sting-of-layoffs-president-says/article_e51c97cb-8773-5813-b0fb-09ee5dc42ece.html
