Rock Valley College to explore outsourcing, eliminating paid days off - Corina Curry, RR Star

Rock Valley College will explore outsourcing and the elimination of paid days off as it continues to face state budget uncertainty. RVC President Mike Mastroianni informed members of the college's Operations Committee tonight that he would like to get a financial analysis on the outsourcing of auxiliary services — functions such as snow plowing, landscaping, information technology, publishing, printing and purchasing co-ops. "We had looked last October at what we were going to do because of the impending budget crisis," Mastroianni said. "We considered outsourcing. We considered (reduction in force). We considered program elimination. At that time, we did the RIFs followed by some of the program cuts and leaving positions vacant. ... In looking at what's happening now and the next few months, there's still an impending financial crisis. There are still going to be issues — from what I'm hearing — from January on." http://www.rrstar.com/news/20160921/rock-valley-college-to-explore-outsourcing-eliminating-paid-days-off
