University president says Humbolt State U must rethink campus budget - Manny Araujo, Times-Standard

School officials at Humboldt State University’s five divisions will have to work to rethink the school’s budget as funding from the state for salary increases and income from student tuition were both lighter than expected, according to a statement released Wednesday by the university’s president. Future plans for the budget will now have to increase austerity measures, balance spending on programs and reduce costs per student while increasing student enrollment and decreasing expenses. The school’s five divisions — academics, administration, student affairs, advancement and the president’s — must also prepare for two scenarios: one where they get less money and one where they get more money as a result of budget revisions. http://www.times-standard.com/article/NJ/20160928/NEWS/160929802
