Paine College is cutting another $500,000 from its budget as it tries to live within its means while still defending its accreditation with one group and applying for new accreditation from another agency, its board chair-elect said. Attorney Michael Thurmond said Paine President Samuel Sullivan informed the board this week that he was cutting $500,000 from the college’s budget. The cuts will mostly be eliminating vacant positions and are “administrative changes,” Thurmond said.
