San Juan College forced to cut jobs after budget cut - David Neely, KOB

The October special legislative session was meant to address the budget problems of the state. One cut made was to higher education, and now the colleges and universities are seeing how those cuts affect them. “We tried to protect the instructional mission of the college,” said Toni Pendergrass, president of San Juan College. For San Juan College, a cut of 5 percent in state money means more than $1 million. College officials started with a one-time reduction of employee healthcare trust contributions. They also reduced technology expenses. http://www.kob.com/new-mexico-news/san-juan-college-forced-to-cut-jobs-after-budget-cut-state-legislature-shortfall/4340876/
