CBU wants to table layoff issue - Nancy King, Cape Breton Post

The interim president of Cape Breton University says it proposed essentially tabling the contentious issue of what would trigger activating the layoff clause in its collective agreement with faculty until the next round of bargaining to begin in 2019, but that was rejected by the union. Dale Keefe said in an interview Friday that the layoff clause is the only outstanding issue in the current negotiations. The most recent contract talks between the university and the union that represents its faculty broke down Thursday, just hours after the two sides had resumed negotiations. http://www.capebretonpost.com/news/local/2017/1/6/cbu-wants-to-table-layoff-issue.html
