Curators discuss state budget cuts in dire terms - Roger McKinney, Columbia Tribune

University of Missouri System curators used terms including "emergency" and "crisis" Friday to describe the system's financial situation after proposed state budget cuts were announced. Gov. Eric Greitens last month restricted $31.4 million from the university system's fiscal year 2017 budget. The governor's proposed budget for fiscal year 2018, which begins July 1, recommends cutting $40.4 million from the UM System's appropriation. "Something's got to happen," interim UM System President Mike Middleton said at the Board of Curators meeting Friday.
