Northwest Missouri State worried about effects of state funding cuts - TOM PINNEY, Maryville Daily

Shortly after taking office in January, Missouri’s new Republican Governor Eric Greitens announced his budget plan for the state which included around $146 million in cuts to annual spending. By far, the biggest chunk of spending cuts will affect public colleges and universities, as $56 million of the state’s core budget for public universities and $12 million from community colleges was cut in the governor’s plan. For Northwest Missouri State University staff, faculty, and students alike, that resulted in quite a bit of worry as more questions start to rise. Director of forensics Brian Swafford said budget cuts could have a wide range of consequences. http://www.maryvilledailyforum.com/community/article_09e46a60-f51e-11e6-9958-6f66f0122ad4.html
