Truman State adds mandatory fee to cover budget withholds - Ashley Jost, St. Louis Post-Dispatch

After years of making cuts in the age of smaller state appropriations, additional withholds to the current budget year has one public university adding a fee to the spring semester costs. Truman State University had an additional $3.1 million withheld from the current fiscal year by Gov. Eric Greitens, a Republican, last month, one week after he took office. The $146 million in total cuts, the brunt of which affected higher education, stemmed from Greitens’ effort to address a slowdown in state revenue. The cuts to colleges ultimately breaks a pact made between schools and then-Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, to receive full funding for the fiscal year in exchange for keeping tuition low. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/education/notes-from-campus/truman-state-adds-mandatory-fee-to-cover-budget-withholds/article_d06e7eb0-8782-56b7-a518-3d80908f937c.html
