Rock Valley College Board of Trustees approves layoff plan - WIFR

Nearly 30 people will be without a job after the end of the 2017 Spring semester, after the Rock Valley College Board voted three to one to allow for the layoff of non-tenured and tenured instructors. Dozens of people showed up to the board meeting to show their frustration that the board would even consider laying off teachers as an option. RVC Chairman Patrick Murphy says this wasn't an easy decision and RVC's President Dr. Douglas Jensen says it was necessary to help close the $1.6 million deficit, but those against the layoff say this was a bad decision. http://www.wifr.com/content/news/Rock-Valley-College-Board-of-Trustees-approves-layoff-plan-415054863.html
