Tenure threatened by budget cuts - Madison Rexroat, KY Kernal

Tenure, which offers professors lifelong job security, is the latest target of conservative lawmakers and college officials searching for ways to balance statewide cuts. Several state legislatures have introduced bills that would create restrictions or even eliminate tenure for college professors. In Missouri, one bill could prohibit public universities from awarding tenure starting in 2018. Other states and school boards are considering policy changes that would make it easier to fire tenured professors and harder for tenure to be acquired in the first place. http://www.kykernel.com/kernel_plus/tenure-threatened-by-budget-cuts/article_a2509bf2-f6ea-11e6-9a3c-67a673c10104.html
