White House's proposed budget cuts would impact local research projects - Kelsey Gerckens, KEYT

The proposed cuts would also eliminate funding for a variety of smaller programs, including research projects done by students at Cal State University of Channel Islands. "So our robotic research is funded in part by a NOAA grant that allows us to do education with middle school kids, high school kids, and college students, that is one of the programs being targeted. A whole swath of programs that effect a lot of the decisions and inform the decisions that we supply to local counties, ect. will be affected," says Cal State University of Channel Islands Environmental Science and Resource Management Professor Sean Anderson. Anderson says, these research programs help provide the first step in experience in these technical fields, without these programs he believes fewer students would find a job in stem fields. http://www.keyt.com/news/white-houses-proposed-budget-cuts-would-impact-local-research-projects/380513888
