Facing Budget Shortfall, Northeastern Illinois University Cancels Classes for 3 Days - WMAQ

Northeastern Illinois University will cancel classes for three days in April and May in a cost-cutting effort during the state’s budget crisis, the school announced Wednesday. The cancellations will take place on April 11, 12 and May 1, NEIU said in a release. The shutdown came less than a month after the school implemented a weeklong furlough program that impacted around 10,000 students and 1,100 employees university-wide over spring break.
