College endowments hope for rebound after worst year since financial crisis - Becky Yerak, Chicago Tribune

Monday marks Decision Day, the deadline for prospective students and their families to accept college offers and put down their deposits, but if you're counting on scholarship money or other financial aid to help put your kid through college, the recent performance of university endowments might give you pause. Dozens of private and public schools in Illinois, including Northwestern University, University of Chicago and University of Illinois, are among hundreds of institutions nationwide whose endowments last year saw their worst investment losses since the financial crisis.
