The VCU board of visitors approved the tuition increase and a budget for the 2017-2018 school year in a meeting on Friday afternoon. In-state undergraduate students will have to pay about $494 more next year, bringing tuition and fees to $13,624. Out-of-state tuition is increasing by $1,369 to $33,656 for the year. The board also approved a $1.2 billion budget for next school year, which includes $12 million for raises for faculty and staff and a $5.1 million increase in university-funded financial aid for students. VCU President Michael Rao said the “lean budget” addresses unavoidable cost increases and focuses on the university’s highest priority needs. http://www.richmond.com/news/local/vcu-board-approves-percent-tuition-increase-for/article_c3e83f26-c6df-5bbb-9a1a-79d3ab684caa.html
