Budget cuts, tuition costs a 'barrier' for impoverished students - Matthew Olson, Saskatchewan Star Phoenix

The cost of undergraduate studies in Saskatchewan ranks third-highest in the country, according to Statistics Canada’s 2016/2017 tuition fees report. The provincial budget’s 5.6 per cent cut equals about a $25 million loss to the university’s operating budget. It’s only the most recent in a string of provincial funding cuts over the past few years, a trend that worries D’Eon. “If there’s a pattern of funding decreases … then we’re going to be in a situation where it’s a lot harder for us to come out confident on the other end.” http://thestarphoenix.com/news/local-news/budget-cuts-tuition-costs-a-barrier-for-impoverished-students
