Trump’s budget would cut financial aid for students - Cayla Harris, CT Post
Connecticut’s Democratic senators are denouncing President Donald Trump’s proposed cuts to financial-aid programs for college students, saying the reductions would weigh heavily on young people already crushed by loan debt. The president’s budget, released Tuesday, calls for more than $4 billion in rollbacks in education in 2018, totaling $1.4 trillion by 2027. In Connecticut, undergraduates who qualify for subsidized loans and federal work-study would likely see the most upfront change, but experts say graduate students actually would get hit the hardest.
